Blog stage 8 commenting on a peers work

I'm commenting on Siavash blog about Austin extending the metro system. I do like the way he list out the reasons why extending it would benefit more of the Austin city residents especially the ones living in the outskirts of the city. I also like how he gives the reason that using the metro options beat out buying or leasing a car. When my family still lived in Austin my mom used to take buses everywhere because we couldn't afford a car, i believe that their are families out there like my family that would benefit from a extended metro system. I do The metro system is a great transportation solution for a city like a Austin so i do agree with my classmates standing on this. The only thing i would like my classmate to include is how much would it cost to improve the metro system to the outskirts of the city.

Bag Ban V2

In this blog I will still be talking about the Austin bag ban law. But this time I will talk more about the problems the bag ban has brought up like customers having to buy thicker bigger bags if they bought a lot of things. Then those bags take longer than regular plastic bags to decompose when the people buying them inevitably throw them away. Ima list out the other things that have happened since the introduction of the bag ban 1st the bag ban has made working in retail especially as a cashier a hellish nightmare especially when dealing with that one customer that must have a bag for their 2 items or that one customer that just doesn’t understand why we don’t have bags like seriously read a paper or google it while you walk out. Another effect the bag ban has caused is that instead of landfills being filled with plastic bags they are now finding more reusable bags in the landfills instead according to kxan news. Now to simply fix that people should re-use the bag they bought this helps them in two ways first you’re not throwing your money away and believe it or not those cents you waste buying them do add up over time. Secondly they help their environment and I hope I don’t need to explain why keeping your environment clean and why lowering waste is good for you.

Judging classmates Blog

I like my classmate’s article about the gang violence in el Salvador it was very informative about the situation happening there. I also like the layout of his blogs he includes pictures and a very nice font, in my eyes this makes the blog easier to read and lessens the chances of me just looking away. The blog is filled with my classmates opinions as well as some facts about hoe life is over there to show how crappy of a place it is. You said that Salvadorans leave their country not because they want to but because they have to because their country has little economic opportunities. A question I have for this that was not addressed in the original blog, is it the poor side of those people fleeing or are the quote unquote rich people also being affected by the gangs or are they okay?

Austin, Texas Bag ban its a start

I like the plastic bag ban law that is in place in Austin and I personally have been affected by it as well. I like the whole idea of trying to reduce plastic bags in landfills by making a law that bans stores in Austin from supplying free plastic bags for their customers there in turn make the customers bring their own bags preferably bags that they can use over and over again. Well it turns out according to cnsnews the bag ban had some unforeseen repercussions like people forgetting their reusable bags ‘who would have thought people forget things’ because of this people end up buying the bigger thicker bags with handles at the stores, that take even longer to decompose than the original plastic bags. Even though this is true I feel like what Austin did is a step in the right direction. By forcing a change this big people will eventually get the hang of remembering their reusable bags. Austin should post more advertising about remembering reusable bags and I’m sure eventually people will get it like myself I at first forgot but now I carry bags in the trunk of my car. I have seen the good effects the bag ban has had in surrounding areas where I live for one I see less and close to none plastic bags flying around the sides of the roads near big box stores. It is obvious that the bag ban has done great things here In Austin there are drawbacks like customers nagging and complaining about having to carry things without a bag but it is necessary in order to move forward in reducing waste.

Conservative Blogger

I will be talking about The TexasFredBlog post about Hillary Clintons 13 acts of treason against the United States. This article is exactly what the title implies it is a list of 13 things that the Clintons have done and the writer Fred Witzell believes that these acts make Hillary and Bill bad people.
While reading his list I saw that at the beginning there was a lot of talk about the Clintons receiving money for favors. And also how the Clintons are covering up a lot of things that went on when Hillary was secretary of state. My critique on this blog is that it just lists what the WikiLeaks say but he doesn’t actually say his opinion in the blog itself. He more talks about his opinion in the comments he is also very obviously anti Hillary.

I believe this article is worth the read if you want to look at a list of wikileaks. And if you want to talk to a conservative blogger.

She Dislikes Trump

The article I read talks about how our next president should be someone that has the skills to talk to people. This article also says a lot of negative things about Donald trump and how he is unfit to be our president. The blog is written by Toni ingles a lifelong Austin resident as well as a retired neonatal nurse and editor. Her credibility on this subject is pretty well established she participates in politics and is well informed to say the things she does. Her intended audience appears to be regular people who share a dislike of trump. She also mentions things about the debates the democratic ones and the republican ones, I will talk about this later.

One of my critics about this article is that she moves from talking about what the president needs to have in order to be an effective leader, that the president should have a good code of ethics to then just start bashing at Trump and the Republican Party. I agree with her statements however I also like how she talked about the internet and how it has contributed to us losing our sense of reverence and decorum. I did dislike how she said that the democratic debates did a job at letting us get to know the candidates better I feel like the democratic and republican debates where both equally ridiculous. I do believe this article is worth the read if you're interested in reading a article that is against the  republicans choices in nominee.

Texas Property Returns

I will be writing about Texas’s unclaimed property money.
This article talks about money that the government has that belongs to the people of this state.
This article says that the Texas comptroller’s office returned 270 million in unclaimed property returns. The government is holding more money only because people here haven’t claimed their money. This article encourages people to go and claim their rightful property money. It is listed by the article that the money comes from utility deposits, insurance proceeds, payroll checks and other refunds. I believe this article is worth the read, mainly so people get informed about the money that’s out there that belongs to people who have no idea it’s there. This article also includes a link people can click on to go check if they any money out there that’s unclaimed. Remember there is no time limit to claim your money.
